Ingrown Hairs

I switched from 5 blade razors to single blade safety razors about 3 weeks ago. I researched a lot and have a Rockwell 6S and Merkur Futur. The shave is incredible with both and I can’t go back to 5 blades again. One issue, I’m getting ingrown hairs now, never had this before, I have tried all setting and plates and blades and I still get them. I do 3 passes each shave but still have them. I use Astra and Derby extra blades and very good pre shave, shaving cream and aftershave. I shave after a hot shower and wet the stubble again. Anyone have any thoughts ? Ideas ? Thanks very much.

I used to have similar problem just before I start to shave with starlight razor. Many years ago. For me key was to use razor as sharp as possible. But, YMCV. Start first pass with the grain, second, against the grain. Should help at the beginning. As for me personally, I am shaving against the grain only.

Start first pass with the grain, second, against the grain. Should help at the beginning. As for me personally, I am shaving against the grain only.
